Meta has partnered with Shanghai-based robotics company Fourier to develop an internal humanoid robot prototype codenamed Max, reportedly completed in three months. The project builds on Fourier's prior hardware and technology from its first three generations of humanoid robots. Meta's vice president of robotics business, Li-Chen Miller, joined the development effort at Fourier's Shanghai factory for nearly two months. A second-generation prototype, Max 2, is now under development with redesigned structures and additional sensors.
