ROS PMC Business
Vote on the meeting hour: should the PMC meeting stay at the current time or go back to the normal schedule? PMC members, please vote
The recent committer vote did not get enough participation, so @ahcorde will restart it this week (week of Nov 2, 2026).
- Each candidate will come with more context on who they are and why they are nominated.
- The charter limits asynchronous votes to 1 week. Forms are preferred for several decisions at once, and email for a single item.
- [@skye.galaxy]
Proposed Maurice Alexander Purnawan (mini-1235) as a new committer, scoped to rclcpp. Maurice joins the candidates in the restarted vote.
@cottsay will send out the vote to end of life Kilted.

Buildfarm update
The buildfarm builds and tests ROS packages across all supported distributions and platforms. This section covers new issues, current priorities, and infrastructure changes that affect maintainers.
Issues:
- rmw_connextdds#266: intermittent transform lookup failure after time reset in Connext nightly builds. The issue reports failures on 62.5% of Lyrical and 3.57% of Rolling builds over 15 days.
- rclpy#1719: flaky async node, service, and client tests timing out after 120 seconds (reopened). The backport to Lyrical is missing, and the Lyrical PR job (Lpr) is failing.
Priorities:
PTAL Buildfarm Issues Dashboard (16 open issues).
Around 12 issues were closed during the last week. Thanks!
Waffle note-taker
Waffle is a weekly meeting where maintainers triage incoming issues and pull requests that haven’t been otherwise acted upon. One person per week is assigned to be the “waffle note-taker” to both take notes in the meeting to keep the meeting as efficient as possible.
- Baffle maker
- Oct 29, 2026 - @skye.galaxy
Nov 5, 2026 - @skye.galaxy
Rosdistro assignments
Rosdistro is a weekly assignment to monitor incoming issues and pull requests in GitHub - ros/rosdistro. Two people per week are assigned to be the rosdistro maintainers.
- Oct 27, 2026 - Nov 3, 2026 - @mjcarroll and @ahcorde
Nov 3, 2026 - Nov 10, 2026 - @mjcarroll and @ahcorde- [@christophebedard]
CC licenses in rosdistro#53263: the package contains files under CC-BY-NC-ND-4.0 and CC-BY-SA-4.0.
- CC-BY-NC-ND-4.0 is noncommercial and non-derivative, which is not allowed.
- CC-BY-SA-4.0 looks like a typical copyleft license, but it is not OSI-approved. CC-BY and CC0 are acceptable.
- We could request individual decisions, but excluding all CC files is simpler for now.
- Excluding them through CMake is not enough, because source debs would still include them. The next thing to try is a patch in the release repo. If that is too risky, we will have to request that the files be deleted from the repo.
- OSRA needs to come up with an IP and licensing policy.
Release Management
Release Management tracks the status of upcoming releases, patches, and syncs across the active ROS distributions.
- @christophebedard (Humble)
- No update.
- @yadunund (Rolling)
- No update.
- Marco A. Gutiérrez (Jazzy)
- No update.
- @cottsay (Kilted)
- Still tracking regressions, with a rebuild in progress.
Targeting a sync late in the week of Nov 2, 2026.
Kilted goes EOL on Nov 30, 2026.
- Still tracking regressions, with a rebuild in progress.
- @sloretz (Lyrical)
About 15 regressed packages are delaying the sync. Still waiting.

Agenda
- [@ahcorde] Help us make image_transport and point_cloud_transport better for Makoa!
Please review and comment on the proposals from Martin Pecka.
- [@clalancette] Same-participant matching in Connext (rmw_connextdds#265)
- If a node creates a publisher and a subscription and then publishes right away, do you expect that message to always reach the subscription, given that both are in the same participant?
rmw_connextddsdoes not guarantee local matching before the publish happens, and matching can take up to 16 milliseconds locally.- Fast DDS, Cyclone DDS and Zenoh complete local matching before subscription creation returns.
- @clalancette will keep working with the Connext maintainers on the PR.
- [@cottsay] New policy for distributing rosdep review burden to platform maintainers
@cottsay will write up the policy and better wording by Nov 10, 2026.
- [@ahcorde] Roadmap for the upcoming release
- Priorities so far: build times and code cleanup, plus rclpy improvements and logging system updates.
Please suggest more roadmap items.
