UIU showcases robotics innovations at 'Robo Fest 2026' in Jamalpur

A day-long robotics festival titled "Robo Fest 2026" was held in Jamalpur on Sunday (1 November), showcasing robotics, artificial intelligence (AI) and modern technology to encourage students to explore science and technology.

The festival, themed "A Journey into the World of Robotics", was organised by the Science and Innovation Club of United Public School & College, Jamalpur, and United Trust in collaboration with United International University (UIU), according to the press release.

The event featured technological innovations and projects developed by UIU's Centre for Artificial Intelligence and Robotics (CAIR), including the UIU Mars Rover, UIU Aerial Robotics, UIU Rescue Rover and UIU Mariner.

Students from United Public School & College, MA Rashid Memorial Academy and MA Gafur Memorial Academy in Jamalpur participated in the festival.

During the exhibition, members of UIU's Centre for Artificial Intelligence and Robotics presented their innovations and research in three major areas of robotics: ground, marine and aerial.

The ground robotics segment featured the UIU Mars Rover and Rescue Rover, while the marine robotics segment showcased UIU Mariner. The UIU Aerial Robotics team also demonstrated various technologies and projects developed in aerial robotics.

Students and visitors observed the innovations firsthand and learned about their operational mechanisms, technological features and real-world applications.

Notably, the UIU Mars Rover team secured third place globally and first place in Asia at the University Rover Challenge (URC) 2026. The team also received the "Best Autonomous System Recognition" award.

The achievement marked a significant milestone for Bangladesh and a notable accomplishment in the 20-year history of rover competitions in Asia, according to the press release.

Meanwhile, the UIU Aerial Robotics team secured fourth place globally at the Student Unmanned Aerial Systems (SUAS) 2026 competition. The team also became the first Bangladeshi team to participate in the international competition.

The primary objective of "Robo Fest 2026" was to develop students' innovative thinking, creativity and problem-solving skills while fostering greater interest in science and technology-based education.

The festival also emphasised hands-on experience and practical knowledge of robotics, programming, artificial intelligence and engineering design.

Through such initiatives, students in Jamalpur are expected to better understand modern technologies and their practical applications.

The organisers also hoped the festival would encourage students to take part in national and international science, programming and robotics competitions in the future.
